BIG in Zürich

While walking through downtown Zürich, Switzerland we stumbled upon a little guerrilla marketing activity for the BIG stores in Zurich. We assume that the tag line "Life is a runway - BIG - only in Zürich" was pointing locals and tourists in the direction of one or more of the stores. But where were the models? :-)

Them fighting words

A little while back Google put together a spot to show the speed of the Chrome browser. Opera now spoofed that spot featuring 2 Bjorn Borg wannabes to show how fast their browser is compared to a potato. Darn, Opera is one fast browser.

A super high tech setup indeed.

A Go Beyond Borders update

Late last year during the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall, CNN used the occasion to promote their Go Beyond Borders slogan. 40km of red tape with the CNN slogan was placed where the wall used to be, and information boards reminded bystanders of the history that had occurred there. Furthermore, the tape artist El Bocho created some memorable scenes. The agency Heimat in Berlin now has finished the case film for the CNN Berlin Wall Tape Art Project.

It is good to see when work is not only self serving, so kudos to Heimat and CNN.

Bashed in window marketing

In the pedestrian zone in Zurich, Switzerland we noticed people fixated on the shop window of the Goldschmied Schulter, and it looked like someone had tried to break into the display window. But once you stepped up to the goldsmith shop window and touched the glass it became apparent that the broken window was on the inside and only there for guerrilla marketing purposes. This has been done before for sure but the little trick still seems to work, plus it makes more sense in Europe where jewelers and goldsmiths actually leave their goods in the windows 24/7.

An interesting future

The 3-minute Nike film “Write the Future,” takes people on an amazing journey that dramatically captures moments when a single pass or one strike in soccer brings a nation eternal happiness, while bringing others to their knees. Directed by Alejandro G. Iñarritu it shows all the passion of soccer / football. Now FIFA World Cup come already.

But no worries, this blog isn't only about soccer / football moving forward

Time to swap

At the end of big soccer matches teams often exchange jerseys, and in honor of the upcoming FIFA Soccer World Cup, Budweiser is playing on that theme. So go on and swap, but make sure sure the swap is even.

Soccer jersey swaps? Sure.

Getting bang or your buck on Google

What do you think $6 will buy you on Google? For Alec Brownstein that amount of money spent on Google keyword helped him land a job at the advertising agency Y&R in NYC. Understanding that many Google savvy folks "Google themselves", Brownstein bought the names of 5 creative directors he was interested in working for/with and ended up with 4 interviews and 2 job offers. Now that is bang for your buck.

Search and you shall find.

Fast versus Fast

With the soccer World Cup in South Africa coming towards us with giant steps, the homages to soccer are reaching a fever pitch. Adidas has now jumped into the fray with Fast vs Fast. Even if you don't care about soccer / the real football, one must admit that this work is quite beautiful.

Bring on that soccer World Cup already. Enough with the teasing.

Run Forrest Run

Most people would think that only god can walk on water, but some European dudes want to prove that they can run on water thanks to their waterproof Hi-Tec shoes, positive attitude and determination. Why these confident guys still have to wear wetsuits to walk/run on water though is a bit of a puzzle. After all, they have confidence, determination and the miracle shoes. So they should be able to do this in their boxers, or in their case - banana hammocks. But independent of that detail, this little guerrilla marketing stunt already has about 1.5 million views.

Getting ready for the Soccer World Cup

Well, the FIFA Soccer World Cup is coming to South Africa in just about a month and Igor Martinovic from NY made his directorial debut with this stunning spec spot for Adidas on a beach on Long Island with a group of New York City kids. We are inspired - so let the games begin.

The making of the Ant protest clip

We recently posted a clip about an interesting ant protest against Baygon insecticides, and now we stumbled upon the making of that video clip. Basically a how-to do your own version of this ant protest. Or do you need any help with ant guerrilla marketing?

But do make sure that no ants get insured when doing this.

Sing it out loud

A new spot for Gatorade is all about the Evolution of the sports drink and is nicely done indeed. It is actually hard to imagine that coaches didn't always get showered with Gatorade buckets at the end of a winning game, or that endurance athletes used to be content with water and bananas.

But not all is as old as it appears. :-)
