No no no Nokia

The new Nokia N900 is hitting the shelves today and the little video below apparently is intended to create some buzz for said unit. But please do not call it a viral marketing video because as of this moment it only has had 335 views. Also, can someone please explain what is going on here?

  1. Hmmm.. glad you found the video intersting/confusing enough to post about it!

But as a marketing company with "unuque expertise in viral marketing", I would expect that you would know that youtube often gets "stuck" at a certain viewcount with new videos that are getting a lot of views in one day.

It still says 355 views 7 hours after you wrote your post, but has many more comments than earlier so it will adjust to better reflect the real viewcount some time tomorrow. Would be great of you to update your post to reflect this :)

    Cheers!

  2. We have an automatic counter that updates said number.

  3. err.. your automatic counter can only update based on info it gets from youtube though, and my point was that youtube's own counter sometimes gets stuck on a busy first day for a video.

So, for the record, the video now has 65 000 views which is not bad in just over 1 day, IMHO, and certainly a lot more than the 355 you reported rather dismissively

but apart from that, nice blog :)

  4. It was exactly 355 when I noticed it about 24 hours ago. So I was merely reporting facts that were true at the time. But yes, 65,000 is a pretty nice number, but in all reality you really should thank sites like mine that clearly have added quite a few of those numbers. :-)

  5. GuerillaComm is right about reporting facts and not talking about wishful thinking.

  6. Wow guys, I don't think you have understood what I am trying to say.

Basically, Youtube cannot keep track of the views of all its videos that accurately.

So, often, a video that is getting a lot of views on Youtube will get "stuck" or "frozen" on a number around 300 views for many hours.

I'm not saying GuerillaComm is innacurate, I'm just saying Youtube is often innacurate, or at least it doesn't show the correct number in the first day, that's all :)

(If you don't believe me, Google: "Youube View Counter Frozen")

    Cheers!

  7. Does it matter what the count is... that video is weird and I don't think I like the idea of some crazy guy turning in to a phone I'm supposed to buy...
