No FedEx Super Bowl advertising

FedEx recently announced that they won't advertise during the upcoming Super Bowl in consideration of their employees in a tough economic situation. One could of course argue that it is time to really spend money on advertising when others are spending less, but maybe this message of fiscal restraint is quite possibly better received by their clients than a few new Super Bowl ads. So is that possibly the least expensive guerrilla marketing method?
