Leica zooms in
What a great ambient marketing idea to show off the awesome 12x zoom capability of the Leica V1-Lux camera by having closeup images on billboards of the background behind the billboard.

VW EOS ambient shadow
In this cool ambient marketing campaign, a perfectly placed "shadow" billboard allows the sun to promote a test drive in the new VW EOS convertible. "Perfect weather for a test drive."

World Wildlife Foundation goes ambient
The World Wildlife Foundation uses an interesting ambient marketing campaign to warn of the issues of deforestation. A cutout in the shape of South America gets less and less green as more paper gets used, symbolizing the loss of forests. "Save the paper, save the planet."

Ironman Hawaii guerrilla marketing
Almost 2000 athletes and several thousand family members, industry folks and media members gather each year for the Ironman Triathlon World Championship in Kona, Hawaii and it is truly an amazing event. This year www.coffeesofhawaii.com showed up with their floating Espresso bar trimaran on the swim course and passed out cool Coffees of Hawaii samples and water to swimmers during the week leading up to the race. Very nice non traditional marketing and talk about a captive audience.
The floating Espresso bar is out there

The coffeesofhawaii.com trimaran in all its beauty on Dig Me beach

This was well worth the long swim

Looks like rush hour traffic on the swim course

The well earned reward after a 700 meter or so swim

The bar is quite busy at times

Timing is often everything
During a recent railway strike in Germany, Snickers took advantage of the situation with a nifty guerrilla marketing idea. They passed out snickers bars in pedestrian zones and near taxi stands with the slogans "If the railway strikes, we'll be just walking then" and "If the railway strikes, we'll be just driving then." Quick thinking and acting were crucial to pull this stunt off.

Fresh Salads
Guerrilla marketing is not really always planned. In some cases it may just be a very nicely done ad or billboard that people find fascinating and take pictures of and spread around. Such is the case of this very cool "Fresh salads" ad for McDonalds.

Ambient climate change warning
Penguin ice sculptures were placed in public parks in Sao Paulo, Brazil by 50graus.org to keep the mind of people on the climate change. Simple and clean guerrilla marketing.

Those MINI maniacs
There seems to be no shortage of ideas to promote the MINI Cooper brand and here is another very simple guerrilla marketing execution for MINI. Most likely done by brand fanatics and not an official marketing company, but that makes it very nice. Not sure how long it'll stay there but most likely long enough for people to talk about it and take pictures.

Monkey business
Del Monte seems to have let Disney do a bit of ambient marketing on their bananas for the newly released Jungle Book dvd set. Orang Utan King Louie of the Jungle Book is gracing the labels of certain bananas and this is actually a very smart connection.

Abused kids are silent
This is a very powerful ambient marketing campaign to fight the abuse of children in Brazil. The use of duct tape is very strong visual reminder that often the victims can't speak up. The slogan says "The biggest victims of sexual abuse do not speak. Call 100 and do that for them."

Pasta power, not doping
German pasta maker Alb-Gold recently infiltrated the cycling World Championships in Stuttgart, Germany with an interesting ambient marketing campaign. Doping in cycling has been in the news all over the world and so this play on doping is quite appropriate. They placed and handed out samples of their famous Spaetzle in key locations with the note: Red card for doping, use pasta power instead.
